Assam: Two nabbed for assaulting police home guard in Guwahati

Guwahati: Two inebriated youths were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly assaulting a police home guard on traffic duty near Panikhaiti in Guwahati, Assam.

The accused were identified as Sanjay Lama and Tutu Bora.

There were apprehended by Panikhaiti police on Sunday after a violent confrontation with a traffic home guard on duty.

The incident occurred in Lahapara, Panikhaiti, when Home Guard jawan Ashok Kalita, stationed at the Panikhaiti police station, intercepted Lama and Bora for consuming alcohol in public.

Ignoring warnings, they reportedly assaulted Kalita.

Following the incident, the police apprehended both Lama and Bora.

The are both residents of Gaonburha Road in Bonda, Guwahati.

Further investigation is being carried out.
