Assam: Interstate liquor smuggling network busted in Guwahati
Guwahati: A man dubbed to be the mastermind of a large-scale interstate liquor smuggling racket was arrested by the police in Guwahati, Assam.
Police sources said that a team from the Basistha Police in Guwahati arrested Rajesh Das, the alleged mastermind behind the racket.
He was arrested just a few days after the police nabbed another suspect in the case.
The other accused was identified as Manoj Hazarika.

Hazarika is accused of being involved in smuggling liquor from Arunachal Pradesh into other states due to the low price evading certain taxes.
Sources said that continuing with the investigation, the police found Das being involved in trafficking liquor from Arunachal Pradesh all the way to Bihar.

He was apprehended in Guwahati's Kahilipara locality on Wednesday.
The police also seized 779 cartons of smuggled liquor.
Sources said that the police had initially intercepted a truck carrying an illegal consignment of liquor on June 4 and when the truck driver was detained he revealed the information about the prime accused identified as Rajesh Das.
Keeping track of the investigation, the police arrested Das on Wednesday.
