Assam: Indonesian man arrested at Guwahati Airport for "cocaine smuggling"
Guwahati: Officials of the Customs department at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI Airport) in Guwahati, Assam apprehended an Indonesian man for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Reinhard Sirait from Jakarta, Indonesia, was caught attempting to smuggle cocaine using a "dangerous method", officials said.

The customs discovered Sirait had concealed numerous pallets containing cocaine inside his body.
Following his arrest, customs officials rushed Sirait to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) under the orders of the Kamrup Metro District Chief Judicial Magistrate.

There, surgery was performed on him to remove a total of 36 pallets of suspected cocaine, each weighing about 10 grams, from Sirait's body.
Officials estimate the seized cocaine to be worth several crores of rupees.
An investigation is being carried out to trace the source of the suspected drugs.
