Guwahati: Heavy rainfall once again disrupted normal life in Guwahati on Sunday, triggering severe waterlogging in the 9th Mile and 10th Mile areas and forcing authorities to divert traffic on key routes.

According to officials, light motor vehicles (LMVs) travelling towards Guwahati are being diverted at Digaru, while vehicles leaving the city are being rerouted from Koinadhora. Commuters heading out of Guwahati have been advised to use the Narengi route to avoid inundated stretches and traffic congestion.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the region, warning of heavy rainfall over the next few hours. Forecasts indicate a more than 50 per cent probability of continued rain, raising the likelihood of further waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation and urged residents to avoid waterlogged roads, plan their travel in advance and follow official traffic advisories until conditions improve.
