Assam: Bike-borne chain-snatchers rob woman in Guwahati

Guwahati: Another incident of chain snatching was reported in Guwahati, Assam on Monday morning.

As per reports, two individuals on a motorcycle snatched a golden chain from a woman earlier on Monday morning.

The victim stated that she was threatened with a sharp weapon by the duo near her residence in the Anil Nagar area of Guwahati.

The victim, Mayuri Saikia, said that she was robbed as she was heading to her workplace, a private hospital in the Downtown area of Guwahati.

The accused managed to flee from the spot before anyone could intervene.

A case has been registered with the police regarding the incident.

It may be mentioned in the past few months, there have been several reports of a gang operating in the Anil Nagar and Nabin Nagar areas.

A police source said that the gang may have targeted the area owing to the reason that it has many lanes that are often deserted.

Such roads are a "plus-point" for thieves to operate as they can flee with minimum resistance.

The police said an investigation is being carried out and CCTV footage from the area is being checked to identify the culprits.
