Assam: Bank manager arrested for land grabbing in Guwahati

Guwahati: A man has been apprehended by the police in Guwahati, Assam for alleged land grabbing.

The UCO Bank manager has been apprehended by city police for allegedly defrauding an elderly woman of her land.

Prasenjit Roy, the manager of the Silpukhuri branch, was arrested on Friday night following a complaint filed by Prabha Bhattacharya.

The accused is accused of misappropriating land documents pledged by Bhattacharya as collateral for a bank loan.

Roy is accused of fraudulently transferring the property to his name.

The crime branch is investigating the case.

It has been suspected that others may be involved in the scam.

Further investigation is being carried out.
