Assam: B Borooah Cancer Institute suspends Ayushman Bharat citing fund crisis
Guwahati: The B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) in Guwahati, Assam has suspended treatments under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The hospital administration stated that due to the state government's failure to clear pending dues amounting to over Rs 20 crore, they had to suspend the scheme "temporarily".

This decision, however, contradicts Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's claims of free treatment availability under the scheme everywhere.
The suspension has reportedly caused immense hardship to patients who rely on the scheme for critical cancer care and were already undergoing treatment at the BBCI.

The administration also claimed that the hospital was facing a shortage of essential medicines, further compounding the problems for patients.
The government's "delay" in releasing funds has led to a crisis at the institute, reports claimed.
