Assam: 3 killed in SUV-truck collision near North Guwahati

Guwahati: Three people were killed after an SUV collided head-on with a truck in Assam’s Kamrup district on Thursday, police said.
The accident took place at Gauripur near North Guwahati. According to police, the truck had allegedly entered the wrong side of the road when the collision occurred.
Police said the SUV was travelling at high speed before crashing into the truck. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the vehicle completely mangled.
All three occupants of the SUV died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Parth Pratim Burman, Ranjit Dey and Karuna Bezbarua.
A police official said the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the driver and ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
