The kids between 9 to 14 years of age who were rescued after being ill-treated at Shri Swami Narayan English Medium School, Nashik, Maharashtra were sent back to their hometown in Manipur on Friday, Ng Uttam said.

One kid bears the mark of injury made with an air gun on the face.

The children from the lower income group of the families were taken to Nashik sometime back with a promise of providing them free education.

Following the parents' complaints of their children being subjected to ill-treatment, the MSWD contacted their Maharashtra counterparts.

Subsequently, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Nashik rescued the five children from the said educational institute.

Meanwhile, the state government has appealed to the parents of all school-going children not to send their offspring for studies outside the state without prior notice to the MSWD.
