SIVASAGAR: The era and days of insurgency and militancy in the Northeast state of Assam are over.

This was claimed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (April 10).

CM Sarma made this statement while addressing a public meeting at Charaideo in Assam.

The Assam CM attributed the peace to the initiatives taken by BJP-led central government.

He underscored that significant strides have been made for progress in Assam during BJP regime.

Sarma highlighted a recent roadshow at Tinsukia in Assam of union home minister Amit Shah, noting the absence of extensive security measures.

This, he contrasted with the past, when such gatherings were fraught with security concerns due to insurgency activities.

Recalling the dark days of the past, Sarma reminisced about frequent incidents of bombings, IED explosions, and tragic loss of lives, particularly among the youth and law enforcement personnel, due to insurgent attacks.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the remarkable transformation evident in the present scenario, noting the absence of insurgency not only in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh but also in other regions like Karbi Anglong and eastern Assam.

Sarma underscored the significant shift towards peace since Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister, asserting that insurgency has markedly diminished in Assam.
