Singer-actor Prashant Tamang passes away at 43 in Delhi

Guwahati: Singer and actor Prashant Tamang, 43, winner of Indian Idol Season 3, died on Sunday at his residence in New Delhi, sources said.

Filmmaker Rajesh Ghatani confirmed Tamang’s death, while West Bengal's Darjeeling-based singer Mahesh Sewa said he reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. He was living in Delhi at the time.

A Nepali-speaking singer of Indian origin, Tamang shot to national prominence after winning the popular reality television show in 2007 and enjoyed a strong fan following in Nepal. He recorded several Nepali songs that remain popular among audiences.

Tamang also acted in Nepali films, including Gorkha Paltan, Pardeshi and Pardeshi 2.
