Imphal: The National Award-winning Manipuri film 'Eikhoigi Yum' (Our Home), directed by acclaimed Manipuri film director Romi Meitei, will be screened at the Telangana-North East India Connect: Techno-Cultural Festival, to be held under the aegis of Raj Bhavan, Telangana, in Hyderabad on November 21 and 22, 2025.

The festival will take place at Prasad Multiplex, Hyderabad, as part of a special initiative to promote cultural exchange and cinematic collaboration between the North Eastern States and Telangana.

The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), in a statement, stated that Romi Meitei also serves as an Executive Board Member of MSFDS.

The 89-minute-long fiction feature, produced by Chingshubam Sheetal and directed by Romi Meitei, is set in Loktak, the largest freshwater lake in northeastern India, where the fishing community faces an eviction notice.

The film is a narrative on the impact of globalization on a small, remote village, causing the residents to move away in an attempt to eke out a livelihood.

Notably, Mayanglambam Romi Meitei’s “Eikhoigi Yum” was honoured with the Best Feature Film award in Meiteilon (Manipuri) at the 69th National Film Awards.

His 2021 film, Eikhoigi Yum, won the Best Feature Film award at the 14th Manipur State Film Festival 2022. The film also won an Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Indie Memes Film Festival 2023, held in Austin, United States.

Romi Meitei is a significant contributor to the growth of Manipuri cinema, both through his meaningful films and his continued guidance in shaping the Society's policies and programs for the development of the State's film sector.
