Bollywood actor Dharmendra hospitalized, family denies 'false death' reports

Guwahati: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, widely regarded as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 10 for respiratory issues.

Reports about his critical condition and death circulated widely, but his family has clarified that the 89-year-old actor is stable and recovering under medical supervision.

Dharmendra’s daughter, Esha Deol, took to Instagram to dismiss rumors of his death, stating, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery.”

His wife, Hema Malini, also expressed her dismay over false reports, calling it “extremely disrespectful and irresponsible.”

Throughout Monday, family members and industry colleagues visited Dharmendra at the hospital. His wife Hema Malini, son Sunny Deol, and other relatives were by his side.

Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, Ameesha Patel, and Riteish Deshmukh, visited to check on his health and offered their prayers for a speedy recovery.

Dharmendra has remained active in recent years, engaging with fans on social media and sharing glimpses of his farm life, promoting health, and offering simple life lessons.

Even in his late 80s, he continues to inspire fans with his energy and zest for life.

The actor, born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in Ludhiana, Punjab, began his Bollywood career in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere.

Over six decades, he starred in iconic films such as Yaadon Ki Baarat, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Phool Aur Patthar, Betaab, and Ghayal.

In 2012, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Dharmendra’s most recent film appearances include Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.

The film Ikkis, Dharmendra’s final project, will release on December 25, adding another chapter to his enduring cinematic legacy.

Fans worldwide also continue to send prayers and well wishes, hoping for his full recovery ahead of his 90th birthday on December 8.
