Eastern Army chief reviews operational preparedness in Sikkim

GANGTOK: Indian Army’s Eastern Command chief, Lt Gen RC Tiwari, conducted a thorough review of operational readiness in the border areas of the Northeast state of Sikkim during his recent visit.

Accompanied by Lt Gen VPS Kaushik, General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C) of Trishakti Corp, Tiwari visited border areas in Sikkim on May 01 and 02.

Their focus was on assessing operational preparedness, infrastructure progress, and capability development in Sikkim.

Tiwari commended Trishakti Corps’ officers and troops for their exceptional operational readiness and contributions to border region development and national progress.

During interactions with frontline troops, he praised their dedication and professionalism in challenging circumstances and encouraged them to maintain their commitment and enthusiasm.

Additionally, Tiwari met with Sikkim governor Lakshman Acharya in Gangtok on May 02.

He briefed the governor on the security situation and ongoing initiatives to enhance connectivity in the state, along with various welfare projects under Operation Sadbhavana.

He informed the Sikkim governor that Trishakti Corps completed 67 projects worth over Rs 5 crore in the previous financial year and plans to execute projects exceeding Rs 15 crore in the current financial year.

Tiwari assured the Sikkim governor of the Indian Army's steadfast commitment to border area development and continued support to civil administration and local communities.
