Guwahati: After being in judicial custody since April 1, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.

As per reports, the high court rejecting the plea stated that Kejriwal's arrest and remand by the ED was "not illegal".

He was in ED custody since the arrest and following that on April 1, he was sent to judicial custody.

It may be mentioned that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested after he allegedly had skipped nine summons by the ED.

The court in the order stated that Kejriwal's plea did not seek bail but challenged the legality of his arrest under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).

According to reports, the high court also said that the evidence collected by the ED shows Kejriwal's "active involvement" involvement in the use and concealment of proceeds of crime, both personally and in his capacity as the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Addressing Kejriwal's concerns regarding the timing of his arrest amid the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the court asserted that the legality of the arrest must be examined independently of any political considerations.

Further, the court addressed Kejriwal's scepticism regarding the credibility of the case approver, stating that questioning the manner of recording the approver's statement amounted to casting doubts on the judiciary.
