Dibrugarh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed six First Information Reports (FIRs) related to stock market investment scam that rocked Assam.

The cases, registered before a Special CBI Court, involve prominent names including an actress-influencer and several others implicated in the alleged fraud.

The FIRs, numbered RC 221 2024 E 0013 to RC 221 2024 E 0018, cite charges under the Banning of Unregulated Deposits Schemes Act, 2019, as well as sections of the BNS and IPC.

These cases are part of a larger investigation initiated by the Assam Police, who had previously submitted details of 36 related cases to the CBI.

According to highly placed sources, the CBI team will begin interrogating the accused, currently lodged at the Dibrugarh Central Jail, starting on Saturday.

The scam, estimated to be worth at least Rs 2,200 crore, came to light in September when Dibrugarh Police arrested the prime accused, 22-year-old Bishal Phukan.

The police initially registered a suo-motu case, followed by four FIRs filed by duped investors against Phukan.
