Cadre of proscribed KCP arrested with weapons in Manipur

Imphal: A combined team of the central and state forces arrested a cadre of an underground group in an operation in the southern part of the state with the recovery of arms and ammunition during the past 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the police report, one active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Lamyanba Khuman) was arrested from an area of Khongjom in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Tuesday.

He was later identified as Wangkhem Premjit @ Kamcha Singh (44), a resident of Luker Mayai Leikai in Imphal West District.

In the past few months, he was involved in forcefully collecting money from several businessmen and the general public in the southern part of the state.

Further, one 9 mm Pistol along with three rounds of live ammunition have been recovered from his possession.

He along with the seized weapons has later been handed over to the Khongjom police station for further action, the reports added.
