Guwahati: Drukair has announced the reintroduction of flights between Paro and Bangkok via Guwahati and an additional weekly frequency on its Singapore route via Guwahati starting April 2026.

According to the airline, the Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok service will operate twice a week, restoring an important regional connection that facilitates tourism, medical travel, education and business exchanges between Bhutan, India’s Northeast and Thailand.

Bangkok serves as a major aviation gateway with extensive international connectivity, and the reinstated flights are expected to boost tourism and strengthen travel links across the region.

The airline will also introduce a third weekly flight on the Paro–Guwahati–Singapore route in response to growing passenger demand. Singapore, one of the world’s major aviation and financial hubs, provides onward connections to destinations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Australia and North America.

Commenting on the expansion, Drukair’s Chief Executive Officer Tandi Wangchuk said the additional Singapore service and the revival of the Bangkok route form part of the airline’s broader network expansion strategy.

He said the move also aligns with Act East Policy and is expected to support travel demand linked to the proposed Gelephu Mindfulness City in southern Bhutan, which is located close to Assam.

“Enhanced connectivity is vital to supporting tourism growth, facilitating business and educational exchanges, and strengthening Bhutan’s engagement with international markets,” Wangchuk said, adding that the airline remains committed to sustainable growth and maintaining high standards of safety and service.

The Bangkok service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays from Paro via Guwahati, with return flights scheduled on Fridays and Mondays.

The Singapore route will operate three times a week — Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with return services on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Founded in 1981, Drukair operates from its hub at Paro International Airport and currently connects Bhutan with 10 international destinations across South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. The airline also serves three domestic destinations within Bhutan and operates helicopter services.
