Guwahati: With Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, protestors have grabbed the chance to storm upon her residence.
Videos have now surfaced on social media which shows protestors entering Sheikh Hasina ’s residence Ganobhaban in Dhaka.
The videos show protestors climbing upon the gates and entering into the premises of Hasina’s residence while being armed with lathis.
As per reports, Sheikh Hasina has now landed in Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.
Agartala is the closest Indian city located near Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman claimed that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned amid deadly protests across the country.
He also said that Interim Government formed by the army will take over the country immediately.
The army chief also requested the people to maintain peace and calm and shun violence.
Bangladesh saw a fresh wave of violence after days on Sunday.
The country has been reeling under protests over a quota system reserving 30 per cent of government jobs for families of Bangladesh's 1971 war of independence veterans,
Over 100 people, including 14 policemen, were killed and hundreds injured as student protestors clashed with police and ruling party activists in many cities of Bangladesh, including Dhaka.
The protestors have demanding Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation.
A three-day general holiday has also been announced in Bangladesh from Monday .
The government has shut down high-speed internet services such as 4G services in the wake of fresh protests.
Social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp have also been down in the country.
India had also recently issued an advisory to its nationals asking them to be in touch with the Indian High Commission there and to remain alert.
"In view of ongoing developments, Indian nationals are strongly advised against travelling to Bangladesh till further notice,"the Ministry of External Affairs said.
"All Indian nationals presently in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements and remain in contact with the High Commission of India in Dhaka through their emergency phone numbers," it added.
