12 Bangladeshi nationals and 3 Indian touts detained in Tripura

Agartala: Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have apprehended 12 Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian touts at two separate locations.

According to East Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das, five Bangladeshi nationals were detained in the Ramnagar area due to their suspicious behaviour.

"Acting on specific intelligence, we detained these individuals, who were found to have entered Tripura illegally. They have been identified as Sohel Rana, Nurman Ali, Hamim Ali, Litan Ali, and Salim Riyaj from Chapai Nababganj in Bangladesh's Rajshahi District. A case has been filed against them, and we are working to identify and apprehend the touts involved. We also seized their mobile phones," Das stated.

In a separate incident, seven Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian facilitator were arrested in the Bamutia area of West Tripura district.

Lefunga Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sahadeb Das reported that, following a tip-off about a group of Bangladeshis travelling in an autorickshaw, a police team intercepted the vehicle in Berimura, near the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The detainees included seven Bangladeshi nationals and their Indian facilitators.

Additionally, the BSF announced that on August 24, they conducted a joint operation with the GRP in Belabor, close to the border fence in West Tripura.

This operation, based on information from a sister agency, led to the detention of two Indian touts from their homes.

These individuals are suspected of being involved in facilitating illegal migration and human trafficking across the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The BSF has intensified its efforts against touts involved in these trans-border crimes.
