Ford is fueling speculations about their return to the Indian market by filing a trademark for the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover.

This follows their earlier application for a design patent for the next-generation Endeavour, adding weight to the possibility of a re-entry.

The Mustang Mach-E is expected to arrive in India as a fully built import (CBU), leveraging a rule allowing 2,500 units without local homologation.

This suggests a premium price tag exceeding Rs 1 crore, although it will benefit from the lower GST rate for EVs.

Further fueling the comeback rumors, Ford recently reversed their decision to sell their Chennai plant, despite potential buyers like Vinfast, MG, and Tata Motors.

Additionally, new job openings related to an "EV project" hint at potential India-specific plans.

Internationally, the Mustang Mach-E boasts impressive specs with both RWD and AWD configurations, standard and extended range options, and up to 600km range with the range extender battery.

If launched in India, it would compete with established luxury EVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQE, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 e-tron.
