Zubeen Garg’s funeral draws record crowd in Guwahati, enters Limca Book of Records
Guwahati: Lakhs of fans from across Assam and beyond gathered in Guwahati to bid a tearful farewell to legendary Assamese singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg.
Fans flooded the streets, turning the city into a sea of mourning as they came for one last glimpse of their beloved star.
Traffic came to a halt, and daily life paused as emotional tributes poured in, from flowers and songs to silent processions. The atmosphere across the city reflected a profound sense of loss, with every corner echoing the grief of a state and a generation, coming to terms with Zubeen’s absence.
The Limca Book of Records recognized the magnitude of the moment, listing Zubeen Garg’s funeral as the fourth-largest public gathering in global history, surpassing millions and standing alongside those held for Michael Jackson, Pope Francis, and Queen Elizabeth II.
