Zubeen Garg’s fresh autopsy to be conducted in Guwahati on Tuesday
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that a fresh autopsy of legendary singer Zubeen Garg will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation into his death amid allegations of foul play.
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister stated that the autopsy will take place at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at around 7:30 am on Tuesday, under the supervision of a team from AIIMS Guwahati.
The procedure will be completed ahead of the cremation, giving fans and admirers an opportunity to pay their final respects.
The Chief Minister urged anyone with credible information regarding the singer’s death to approach the CID directly. He cautioned that strict legal action would be taken against those spreading unverified or baseless claims on social media.
To facilitate smooth arrangements, vehicular movement will remain suspended until 4 pm on Tuesday. Citizens will be permitted to line both sides of the main roads to pay tribute as the funeral procession passes.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the ceremony on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Other dignitaries expected include the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, the Leader of Opposition, representatives from Assam Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Students’ Union, close associates of Zubeen Garg, and former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Following the cremation, the ashes will be handed over to the family.
Sarma also issued a stern warning against attempts to shut shops or disrupt public order in Zubeen Garg’s name after 2 pm on Tuesday.
