Guwahati: Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi on Monday evening called upon the people of Assam to unite strongly and take to the streets to raise their voices together for justice for Zubeen Garg, whose untimely and mysterious death continues to shake the conscience of the state.

"Those whose eyes still burn with the flames of that fire have not been able to sleep, nor to focus on work; their hearts smoulder with another spark of rebellion. We are not at peace — and we will not be until we get justice for ourselves. Justice for Zubeen Da means death penalty or hanging for the accused (under Section 103 of the BNSS). Justice for Zubeen Da means life imprisonment for the accused (under Section 105 of the BNSS).

Come, let us raise our voices together for justice for Zubeen Garg, let us take to the streets in unity and strength.

The legendary singer Zubeen Garg was died in Singapore on 19th September 2025 while swimming in mysterious circumstances.

His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has repeatedly demanded justice within ten days this day, urging authorities to act decisively.

Her emotional appeals and the growing public outrage have fuelled a massive movement both online and on the ground, with the hashtag #JusticeForZubeenGarg Within ten days trending across platforms.

In the weeks following his death, candlelight marches, street protests, and cultural gatherings have erupted across Assam  from Guwahati to Majuli, from Tezpur to Tura  all echoing one demand: justice for Zubeen Da. As the investigation continues under mounting public pressure, the call by Akhil Gogoi signals a renewed phase of agitation, blending politics with people’s emotion and Zubeen’s immortal legacy of resistance.

The beloved singer was only 52 years old at the time of his unnatural death.
