Two from Assam killed in truck-bike collision in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi
Guwahati: Two individuals from Assam were killed in a road accident in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya on Sunday.
A police official said that the accident took place on Sunday morning at the Guwahati-Shillong lane of NH06, near Shangbangla in Ri-Bhoi District. A Royal Enfield Himalayan bike, bearing registration number AS01FF3367, collided with a truck (AS01RC0413) while attempting to overtake.
The bike's rider identified as Nilutpal Dowari (23) and pillion rider Gargee Chutia (21), lost control at a sharp curve and crashed into the truck during the overtake attempt.

Before they could get up, the truck ran over them as the driver failed to control the truck as everything happened suddenly.
The collision resulted in fatal injuries and both victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

The bodies were later recovered by the police and medical staff which shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for autopsy and inquest proceedings. The truck driver underwent a medical examination, and the vehicles were taken to Nongpoh Police Station for further investigation.
Sources informed that the deceased were a couple and had rented the bike from Guwahati for a Sunday ride.
Of the deceased, Nilutpal Dowari was a resident of Moranhat, Dibrugarh while Gargee Chutia was a resident of Charaideo.
