Man held for facilitating entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Assam
Guwahati: A man was arrested by the police in South Salmara-Mankachar in Assam for allegedly being involved in assisting cross-border movements illegally and helping Bangladeshi nationals enter India and Assam specifically.
According to reports, the accused was identified as Ali Hussain.
He was arrested after the detention of a suspected woman who was later identified to be a Bangladeshi citizen.

She was detained by the locals and later handed over to the Dhubri police at the Jogmaya Ghat in the district after she was found to have been entering Assam illegally.
It may be mentioned that earlier this week several Bangladeshi nationals were reported to have entered India through various routes.
While some managed to escape, some were caught by the police who disclosed that they were facilitated by some brokers in India to let them enter India.

The woman who was among the arrested persons identified two persons as brokers.
Of the two, one was from Bangladesh while the other was from India, namely, Ali Hussain.
Based on the input by the woman, the police identified Ali and arrested him.
The accused was also suspected of being involved in cattle smuggling.
An investigation is being carried out regarding the incident.
