Digboi launches Assam Special Revision 2025–2026, BLOs trained for electoral roll update
Digboi: In a move to improve electoral accuracy and field readiness, a day-long training on the Assam Special Revision (ASR) 2025–2026 was held at the Golden Jubilee Complex in digboi on Saturday.
The session brought together Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Supervisors from across the Digboi subdivision for orientation on key procedures for the Special Summary Revision of the electoral roll.
The programme emphasized the role of BLOs, whose tasks, from door-to-door verification to accurate documentation and digital data entry, are crucial to updating the voter roll.
Officials noted that the diligence of BLOs directly affects the authenticity and inclusiveness of electoral rolls, which are central to credible elections.
Key administrative officials present included District Election Officer, Tinsukia, Mayurakhi Dutta; ERO and Circle Officer, Digboi CDC, Mondira Boruah; Assistant Commissioner, Digboi CDC, Madhujya Phukan; AERO and BDO, Digboi, Kaberi Buragohain; AERO and Executive Officer, Digboi Municipal Board, Aniruddha Bora; and Government Officers Bikash Gogoi and Bidyut Bikash Boruah.
Their presence highlighted the administration’s commitment to a transparent and accurate revision process.
Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, Swapneel Paul, addressed participants via a video briefing, providing essential DOs and DON’Ts, and stressing procedural precision and uniformity in ASR activities.
The training, led by Master Trainer Pobon Gogoi, covered the full ASR framework, starting with an overview of the 2025–2026 calendar and objectives.
Modules included verification procedures, supporting documentation, and the use of digital platforms mandated by the Election Commission of India.
Participants learned to process online applications, update voter information, and monitor field operations to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
A separate module focused on handling claims and objections, guiding BLOs on inclusion, deletion, and correction requests.
Case studies, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises helped participants tackle real-world challenges.
Special attention was given to newly eligible youth, senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities, reinforcing the ASR’s commitment to inclusive voter rolls.
The Assam Special Revision ensures voter lists remain accurate, up-to-date, and representative of all eligible citizens.
By making timely corrections, removing outdated entries, and adding new voters, the process strengthens public confidence in the democratic system.
The session ended with senior officials urging BLOs to prioritize accuracy, follow timelines, and maintain proactive communication with the public.
The training in Digboi marked an important step toward ensuring consistency, transparency, and preparedness as ASR 2025–2026 moves forward across Tinsukia district.
