Chennai: The Assam Workers and Cultural Society, Chennai, marked the birthday of renowned Assamese singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg on November 18 through charitable initiatives.

To honour Garg’s lifelong commitment to social service and compassion, the Society organised a series of activities reflecting the values he has consistently promoted.

As part of the commemoration, food supplies were donated to a local orphanage, supporting children and underprivileged groups.

Financial assistance was also provided to an Assamese patient undergoing treatment at a city hospital, in line with Garg’s humanitarian efforts.

“These initiatives were our humble way of paying tribute to Zubeen da, who always believed in kindness, empathy, and helping those in need,” said Manoj Kumar Sharma, President of the Assam Workers and Cultural Society, Chennai, during the programme.

The Society affirmed that such acts of service will continue in the future as a tribute to Zubeen Garg’s enduring legacy, aiming to inspire the community to uphold his message of humanity and compassion.
