Guwahati: After making a mistake in the first candidate list for the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday issued a revised list for Assam.

As per reports, the BJP list of candidates had several errors regarding the constituency names as well as status.

The rectifications were necessitated by errors in the previous list, which failed to account for Assam's recent delimitation process.

The revised list, shared by the party on X, reflects adjustments in both the number and names of parliamentary constituencies for Assam.

Notably, the initial list inaccurately designated some constituencies and overlooked the effects of the delimitation exercise.

In the corrected list issued on Sunday, Dilip Saikia is slated to contest from Darrang-Udalguri, while Amar Sing Tisso will vie for the seat in Diphu.

Ranjit Dutta has been nominated for the Sonitpur constituency, with Suresh Bora set to compete in Nagaon and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa in Kaziranga.

Interestingly, the new list too has spelling errors. The Darrang-Udalguri seat has been listed as Darrang-Udalgiri.

However, 11 candidates from the BJP are in the line and there has been predictions by the BJP leadership that they would win all of them.
