Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X, “Apart from having an Olympic medalist, Assam now celebrates a World Cup winner in Uma Chetry. Her journey from Bokakhat to the international stage is notable. My best wishes to Uma.”

The District Commissioner of Golaghat and the Superintendent of Police visited Uma’s home to congratulate her on her achievement.

Officials, including the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Bokakhat, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, the Circle Officer of Bokakhat Revenue Circle, and representatives from the Sports Department, also attended the ceremony.

Uma’s father, Lok Bahadur Chetry, told the media, “We always knew Uma was determined, and seeing her achieve this milestone for India is significant for our family.” Her mother, Deepa Chetry, added, “Uma’s achievement is supported by our village and the people of Assam, and we are thankful for their support.”
