Screenings in the US will continue on November 16 in Chicago (Illinois), Detroit (Michigan), Atlanta (Georgia), and in Austin and Dallas (Texas).

Special shows are planned for New Jersey and Boston on December 7, followed by a Bay Area screening in San Francisco on December 8.

Discussions are ongoing to schedule a Seattle show on December 13 or 14, and efforts are being made to finalise a Los Angeles screening by January.

Assamese films usually take three to six months before being screened abroad. Roi Roi Binale has set a new record as the first Assamese film to reach American theatres within just 15 days of its release in India.

This milestone is credited to director Rajesh Bhuyan, producers Shyamantak Gautam and Garima Saikia Garg, and the entire production team.

Meanwhile, in Assam, police have arrested Rafiqul Islam from Lakhipur in Goalpara district for allegedly pirating the film by uploading clips to his YouTube channel, “Rafiqul R Vlogs.”

He was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and remanded to three days’ police custody.

The case, registered at Panbazar Cyber Police Station in Guwahati, is being investigated under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Copyright Act, 1957, and the Cinematograph Act, 1952.

The arrest followed a complaint by producer Gautam after unauthorised clips appeared online shortly after the film’s release.

Since its release in India on October 31, Roi Roi Binale has received widespread praise and has become the highest-grossing Assamese film, earning Rs 16 crore within the first 12 days.
