Guwahati: A 33-year-old woman was severely injured after allegedly jumping off a six-storey building in Guwahati, Assam.

Prema Thomu, is battling for her life after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of a building in Guwahati's Kalapahar area on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Thomu, who had accompanied her husband to the city for medical treatment, was staying at the Puhor Guest House when the incident occurred.

The motive behind her actions remains unclear, but preliminary reports indicate a possible suicide attempt.

Alerted by a loud noise, bystanders and locals rushed to the scene and promptly transported Thomu to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for emergency care.

Police officials have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
