Guwahati: Dibrugarh police have detained a woman from the Moran area after she was allegedly found watching a pirated version of the hit Assamese film Roi Roi Binale, starring Zubeen Garg, on her mobile phone.

The woman, identified as Junty Gogoi, operates a fast-food stall near Housefull Talkies in Moran, according to a news report.

Locals reportedly spotted her streaming the movie and immediately alerted members of the Zubeen Friends Club.

Acting on the tip-off, the club members lodged a complaint at the Moran Police Station, prompting officers to detain the woman for questioning. Police also seized her mobile phone for forensic examination.

During interrogation, Junty Gogoi claimed that a customer had downloaded the full movie from a website and shared it with her. Investigators are now tracing the online source of the pirated content.

The Zubeen Friends Club has lodged a formal complaint against both the person who circulated the movie and the website hosting it.

The group has urged authorities to take swift action against the culprits and shut down the site to curb digital piracy.

Police confirmed that a wider probe is underway to identify others linked to the piracy network, warning that more arrests may follow.

Officials noted that the incident underscores the persistent threat of online piracy, which continues to harm the Assamese film industry despite several enforcement drives.
