Guwahati: As the voting for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections comes to an end, a vehicle carrying Electric Voting Machines (EVM) met with an accident near Boko in Kamrup, Assam about 50 kilometres from Guwahati.

Sources informed that the vehicle, a Force Traveller was heading to the strong room with the EVM and other officials, had a head-on collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Two bikers were severely injured in the accident and were immediately taken to the GMCH.

Sources said that the motorcycle was at a very high speed when they crashed into the vehicle.

The vehicle had EVMs in them along with the officials from two voting centres.

The EVM and officials were recovered and taken to a safe spot by the police to ensure the safety of the machines.

Further details will be updated.
