Assam: Two schoolboys die after drowning in Jorhat

Guwahati: Two children died after drowning in a pond in Jorhat, Assam.

Reports stated that the two were coming home from school when they "fell" into the pond.

The deceased were Pranju Baruah and Mintu Gogoi, both students of the Kankhowa Primary School in Titabor.

They were said to be around 10-11 years of age.

While locals attempted to rescue them, they failed to do so.

The children died before any help could arrive.

The police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Some locals suspected that the children may have entered the pond to take a swim as the weather was too hot.
