Assam: Two nabbed with fake gold, currency in Guwahati

Guwahati: At least two men were nabbed by the police in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday for allegedly being involved in a counterfeit gold and currency smuggling racket

As per sources, a police team comprising Fatasil Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) carried out the operation based on specific inputs.

During the raid, the police found two gold bars suspected to be fake ( shaped like boats) and a large quantity of fake Rs 500 notes.

The total face value of the seized counterfeit cash is estimated to be over Rs 8 lakhs.

Two suspects, Bahar Uddin and Jakir Hossain, were apprehended during the raid.

They were nabbed near the in Datalpara near Dhirenpara locality of Guwahati, Assam.

The police are further investigating the case.
