Assam: Two detained for harbouring Sumi Borah, Tarkik Bora in Golaghat

Guwahati: Two youths were detained by the police in Golaghat, Assam on Tuesday in connection with the online trade scam and sheltering choreographer Sumi Borah and her husband Tarkik Bora.

Sumi Borah and her husband are accused of being involved in a multi-crore online trade scam with Vishal Phukan.

Both of them are now on the run from the police.

A source said that the police, based on inputs, detained Chandan Nath and Subhamjyoti Kurmi for questioning.

The duo was taken to Dibrugarh earlier on Tuesday but were detained on Monday night.

The source said that Kurmi had helped Sumi Borah and Tarkik Bora hide at his house while a vehicle belonging to Chandan was used to help them escape.

The source said that police are investigating the matter and are trying to get leads on where Sumi and Tarkik might be headed.

A report also claimed that the couple may be in Nepal and were planning to head to Dubai via Pokhara.

However, the police have made no official statement in connection to the claim.
