Assam: Two dead in road mishap in Narayanpur

North Lakhimpur: Two youths lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred at Narayanpur in Assam's Lakhimpur district.

The tragedy occurred on Thursday night at Jokhoria, near Narayanpur on NH-15, when a two-wheeler bearing registration number AS07-A-0211 was hit by an unknown vehicle, killing both the rider and the pillion passenger.

The victims have been identified as Nabajyoti Das (20) and Mandeep Bora (22) of Sensowa, Narayanpur.

While Mandeep Bora died on the spot, Nabajyoti succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

It is learnt that the youths were returning home after watching Raas in a nearby area. Their deaths have cast a pall of gloom over the Narayanpur community.

Earlier, in another road accident, a speeding dumper truck knocked down two motorcyclists at Pathali Pahar, near Narayanpur.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the truck collided with a motorcycle coming from Arunachal Pradesh, bearing registration number AR01-K-8654, killing both riders on the spot.

The victims, believed to be from Arunachal Pradesh, have not yet been identified.
