In a heartfelt message shared this morning, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X:

“Zubeen Garg — a being whose presence resonates in your heart, my heart, and everyone’s heart. Today is his first birth anniversary in his absence. On this special day, I offer my deepest respects to our beloved artist on behalf of the people of Assam.”

Zubeen’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, also shared an emotional tribute:

“From this life to the next, we will continue writing our story, Goldie… Happy birthday! Stay well.”

On the other hand, Raijor Dal chief and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi wrote:

“On your 53rd birth anniversary, my deepest tribute to you. May you be well, wherever you are. In your absence, one question remains constant — #JusticeForZubeenGarg.
As we spend this night celebrating Zubeen da’s birthday, I keep asking myself — why has the state not shaken even after knowing that Zubeen da has not received justice?”

Actress-turned-politician Angoorlata Deka expressed her emotions with a touching message:

“Zubeen da… there were so many things left unsaid, so many dreams left incomplete. Perhaps in the next life, I will fulfil those dreams! Words may have been left behind, but never you. Until then… I’ll wait on the path! Today, on your special birthday, holding on to the feeling of your presence, I send you all my love and wishes. Wherever you are, may you be well.”

AJP President Lurinjyoti Gogoi wrote one of the most poetic tributes of the day wishing him a happy birthday repeatedly:

“We are empty.
We are incomplete.
In your absence, I do not know what to write for you! All I know is that you were a radiant sun. Can the flame of death ever shake the flame of your life? You are an identity. In the boundless sky, every day is a new birth for you.

Unanswered Questions and the Ongoing Probe

Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore at the age of 52. His death shocked an entire region and prompted widespread public demand for clarity. The Assam government has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as well as a Judicial Commission to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

Authorities have been coordinating with Singaporean agencies, examining all aspects of the incident, and collecting forensic evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. Calls for justice continue to grow louder from fans, civil society, and political leaders.

A Legacy That Lives Beyond Life

For millions, Zubeen Garg was not merely a singer; he was a phenomenon. His voice shaped modern Assamese music and touched countless hearts beyond geographical boundaries. Today’s tributes underline the irreplaceable void he left behind, but also the undying glow of his legacy.
