Assam to hand over 32 trading scam cases to CBI: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that cases related to the online trading scams would soon be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Following a cabinet meeting on Friday, the CM told the media that 32 cases related to trading scams have been registered in Assam.

He added that since the gravity of the cases was too high, the government will hand over the cases to the CBI soon.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he has already discussed the matter with Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the case.

However, the process would require around a month as there are some formalities before the CBI takes over the case.

He further claimed that the state government and police are checking for other similar scams in the state.

Along with the 32 cases, any new similar cases found during investigations would also be given to the CBI, the CM said.

It may mentioned that Assam has witnessed a surge in online trading scams and so far at least five people have been arrested in separate cases involving hundreds of crores of unaudited financial transactions.
