Assam: Three youths drown in Beki River near Manas national park

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, three youths tragically drowned in the Beki River near Manas National Park in Barpeta district of Assam.

The victims have been identified as Dwip Saha and Raj Saha from Krishna Nagar along Barpeta Road, and Abhijit Karmakar.

Dwip and Raj are cousins.

Reports indicate that the trio arrived at the location on Wednesday (May 01) evening and decided to take a bath in the river.

However, they met with a fatal accident and reportedly drowned.

As of Thursday (May 02) morning, only the body of Raj Saha was recovered from the river, while the whereabouts of the other two individuals remain unknown.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and a Hyundai Eon vehicle bearing registration number AS-15L-5825 was found near the scene.

The Assam state disaster response force (SDRF), along with assistance from the local police, launched a search operation to locate the missing individuals.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the families and friends of the victims, as they grapple with the sudden and tragic loss of their loved ones.
