Assam: Three dead attempting to rescue hen from well in Cachar

Guwahati: On Sunday night when three individuals died attempting to rescue a hen trapped in a well in the Lakipur area on Cachar in Assam.

The victims have been identified as Amit Sen, Manjeet Deb, and Prasenjit Deb.

The incident began when Prasenjit Deb entered the well to save the bird. However, he was trapped in the well and started to suffocate.

Witnessing this, his brother, Manjeet Deb, went down the well in a desperate attempt to help but suffered the same fate.

Alarmed by the unfolding situation, villagers rushed to the well.

Satyalal Deb, father of the Deb brothers, along with Amit Sen, descended into the well to rescue them.

However, they too succumbed to suffocation.

While Satyalal Deb was pulled out alive by onlookers, Amit Sen and the Deb brothers remained trapped.

Cachar police and SDRF personnel were called in and launched a frantic rescue operation.

After a tense hour, the unconscious trio was retrieved from the well and rushed to Silchar Medical College.

Unfortunately, they were declared dead on arrival.
