Assam: Sumi Borah's Jorhat hideout hint lapses in investigation?
Guwahati: No clear answers from Assam Police have been put several questions forward as there has been no clear statement on how or where exactly choreographer Sumi Borah and her husband, Tarkik Borah were arrested.
The stand of the police is now being questioned on social media as Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police VV Rakesh Reddy dodged several questions in connection with Sumi Borah's surrender.
It has been reported that Sumi Borah and her husband surrendered last night.
While it was not clear how and where she surrendered, the SP said that the couple was handed over to them by the Special Task Force of the Assam Police.

On being questioned by the media about the terms of her surrender, the SP said that they were not in a position to speak about the details as the entire situation was under investigation.
The couple was reportedly hiding in Teok, Jorhat after changing several locations.
Initially, it was claimed that they were staying at Tarkik Borah's own house but later it was found that they stayed at a house belonging to a fellow photographer.
Sumi on the other hand speaking to a media outlet claimed that she stands by her ground and that she had done nothing wrong.

She claimed that while she is accused of being involved in the scam, she was never a part of it as claimed in the media.
She also stated that the reports on her in the past few days were all misleading and that she had no role in arranging finances for trade with Vishal Phukan, the prime accused in the scam.
There had been several reports claiming that Sumi had been involved in arranging finances for her but Sumi denied them and said that she surrendered because she did nothing wrong.
She also claimed that after discussing with her advocate, she also spoke with DGP GP Singh before surrendering.
She further claimed that one of the major reasons for her surrender was her family.
It is, however, still a mystery how the duo managed to flee from the police for so long and how the claims of them being in Meghalaya and Nepal arose.
While they claimed that they had been in Jorhat all along, it was seen that the police may have failed to trace them properly or may have been misled.
It may be mentioned that there are also reports that the choreographer's surrender was aided by a senior journalist in Assam.
