Guwahati: A Shillong-bound SpiceJet flight (SEJ2448) made an emergency landing at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati on Friday due to a bomb threat.

The SpiceJet flight, en route from Delhi to Shillong, landed safely in Guwahati, and all passengers were unharmed, said an Airport official.

The official said the airline is investigating the incident and will provide updates on the flight's resumption, the official said.

The incident comes amidst a recent surge in hoax bomb threats targeting Indian airlines. Over 250 aircraft have received such threats in the past few days, causing widespread disruption and inconvenience for air travelers.

The frequency of these bomb threats has raised concerns about aviation security and the potential economic impact on the aviation industry.

In a separate incident, a Vistara Airlines flight UK-829 on its way from Delhi to Hyderabad had to make an emergency landing at Jaipur airport on Friday after a passenger suffered a panic attack.

An official said that the plane landed at Jaipur's Sanganer International Airport at around 8.30 am.

“The Vistara Airlines flight UK-892 took off from Delhi to Hyderabad at its scheduled time at 7.28 am. Soon after, at around 8 am, a passenger on the flight had a panic attack,” an official said.
