Assam: Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society's founder Vice President Debananda Chowdhury passes away

Guwahati: Debananda Chowdhury (Bubul), the son of the late Girijananda Chowdhury and the Founder Vice President of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society, passed away on Saturday, (March 2, 2024), at the Apollo International Hospital in Guwahati. He was 74.

Born on October 5, 1950, in Guwahati, he commenced his early education at Don Bosco School, Guwahati, and later completed his studies in Tezpur.

Debananda Chowdhury generously donated his land to the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society, facilitating the establishment of the Girijananda Chowdhury University in Azara, Guwahati.

He led a life imbued with a passion for farming, caring for his cows, horses, and ducks at his farm. Additionally, he cherished the companionship of dogs and maintained several at his residence in Chowdhury Tilla, Dispur.

He is survived by his wife, two brothers, a sister, a daughter, and numerous other relatives.

His funeral rites took place on Sunday (March 3, 2024) at 2:30 pm, at his residence in Chowdhury Tilla, Opposite Assam Secretariat in Guwahati.
