Assam: Senior Buddhist monk found dead at Margherita monastery
Guwahati: Police recovered the body of a senior Buddhist monk from a monastery in Assam's Margherita Co-District, considering it a suspected murder case.
Indrabonsho Bhikkhu, the chief monk of Inthem Mungong Buddha Vihar, was found dead inside a room in the monastery on November 23.
A blood-stained axe was recovered from the spot, prompting police to suspect foul play.
The monastery is located about 20 km from Margherita headquarters in the Tinsukia district. Police have begun an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made so far.
Officials said the motive behind the killing is not yet known, and no suspects have been identified.
Residents have urged authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
