Assam: Renowned physicist Dilip Sharma passes away

Guwahati: Eminent physicist and former Head of the Physics department at Cotton College, Dr. Dilip Sharma, passed away at Namecare Hospital in Guwahati on Thursday morning following a massive heart attack. He was 72.

Sarma was a resident of Kumarpara area in the city.

A dedicated advocate for science popularization, Dr. Sharma was a prominent figure in Assam’s scientific community.

He was actively involved with several organizations, including Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha, Assam (BJVJ), Assam Science Society, and the Students’ Science Society, Assam.

The residents of Kumarpara, Guwahati, where he resided, have lost a respected leader as he also served as the President of Kumarpara Anchalik Unnayan Somitee until his demise.

Mowsam Hazarika, a people's science activist and former editor of Bigyan Jeuti, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of Dr. Sharma.
