Assam: Police shoot robbery suspect in Nalbari

Guwahati: Police in Nalbari, Assam reportedly shot and injured a robbery suspect on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday.

The injured person was identified as Hamid Ali.

He was shot and injured in the police action during a follow-up investigation on Saturday night.

Ali, a resident of Bullutpar in Mukalmua, was allegedly involved in a recent armed robbery, according to police.

Police apprehended Ali during an investigation and took him to Sokirghat village to locate other suspects.

However, during the follow-up operation, Ali allegedly tried to escape from custody, prompting officers to issue warnings before opening fire.

Ali was then transferred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati for treatment.

He is being treated for a complex fracture and significant soft tissue damage to his right leg.
