Assam: Police net three more in railway loan scam in Guwahati, total arrests reach eight

Guwahati: The police have arrested at least three more individuals suspected to be involved in the Indian Railway Loan Scam in Guwahati, Assam.

Ajay Basfor, Nekibor Zaman, and Rashidul Siddiqui were apprehended by Latasil police for their alleged role in creating fake stamps and using them to commit fraud.

This brings the total number of arrests in the scam to eight, which has already seen over Rs 10 crore stolen.

One of the arrested is a high-ranking official from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) identified as Phanindra Kumar.

The police said that when they raided Kumar's office and found evidence of fraudulent loans secured using forged documents dating back to 2019.

Investigations are ongoing to apprehend all those involved.
