Guwahati: Assam Police have intensified their crackdown on hate-filled social media content following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station on November 10.

In a statewide operation, police arrested 15 individuals from multiple districts for allegedly sharing inflammatory and terror-glorifying posts online.

Officials confirmed that the latest detainees include Rafijul Ali (Bongaigaon), Forid Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi), Inamul Islam and Firuj Ahmed alias Papon (Lakhimpur), Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul Islam and Rakibul Sultan (Barpeta), Nasim Akram (Hojai), Taslim Ahmed (Kamrup), and Abdur Rohim Mollah alias Bappy Hussain (South Salmara).

These arrests add to the six people taken into custody earlier this week, taking the total count to 15 so far.

Police said the coordinated action came after extensive cyber surveillance and digital forensics to identify users spreading communal or extremist content after the blast.

“Anyone trying to incite violence or promote terrorist narratives on social media will face strict legal action,” a senior police official warned, stressing that maintaining peace and communal harmony remains the department’s top priority.

The police response follows a November 10 explosion in Delhi, which tore through a slow-moving vehicle near the Red Fort metro station, leaving 12 people dead and several others injured.

The incident has raised national security alarms amid fears of renewed terror activity in urban areas.

During a public address in Raha, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma strongly condemned the attack and directed the state police to remain vigilant online.

He also urged citizens to stand united against attempts to divide communities through misinformation and hate propaganda.

“The Delhi blast is a grim reminder of the threats we face,” Sarma said. “Our security agencies have already seized massive quantities of explosives in recent days, suggesting a deeper network at work. We are monitoring developments closely.”

Authorities further said cyber monitoring across Assam has been intensified to track potential sympathisers and prevent the spread of extremist ideology in the digital space.
